Schools & Libraries

The Licia & Mason Beekley Community Library is located in the Town of New Hartford, Connecticut. We are in Litchfield County, approximately 20 miles northwest of Hartford, with a population of over 6,700. The town has a rich and diverse history and boasts a number of recreational attractions. .

The Bakerville Library, located in the historical Bakerville section of New Hartford, CT, was started in 1949 with a "little red wagon." Barbara Yedlin, daughter of the late Ralph and Nelia Gardner White, wanted a neighborhood library. Mrs. Yedlin took her son's wagon and canvassed her neighbors for books. Eventually 500 books were donated, stored and distributed from the basement of her home.

Northwestern Regional is a comprehensive public Middle School-High School serving the total Regional Community including the towns of New Hartford, CT, Barkhamsted, Norfolk, and Colebrook.
