The New Hartford Land Trust (NHLT) was established in late 1973 as an all-volunteer, private, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to promoting the permanent preservation and protection of significant farmland, forest, and other open space and natural resources, as well as unique scenic, natural, and historic sites in New Hartford, Connecticut.

The New Hartford Fire Department, located on Greenwoods Road in New Hartford, CT, consists of two stations, five fire apparatus, and a group of dedicated firefighters.
