Hamish Lutris: The Battle of Lexington and Concord
Join local historian Professor Hamish Lutris for a captivating lecture on the Battle of Lexington and Concord, the pivotal clash that launched the American Revolutionary War on April 19, 1775. Learn how British troops set out to seize colonial weapons in Concord, Massachusetts—only to be met by determined American militiamen in Lexington. This confrontation marked the first open fighting between colonists and British forces. Though outnumbered, the colonists mounted a fierce resistance during the British retreat, proving they were ready to stand their ground.
Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome.
About the Speaker:
Hamish Lutris is an Associate Professor of History, Political Science, and Geography at Capital Community College in Hartford, Connecticut. A highly respected lecturer across the Northeast, he brings extensive experience from Central Europe in education, strategic planning, and international research collaboration. Professor Lutris has also worked in some of America’s most iconic historical and natural landmarks and has led educational programs across the U.S. and Europe. His expertise spans Native American history, the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, the American West, and a wide range of topics in scientific, social, and cultural history.
